While recording new Yuja videos, instructors can choose where to save the videos in their Yuja library and they can also target Yuja channels. Instructors need to click on the Canvas course's Yuja link, and the channel will be created automatically. Students can access Yuja channels by clicking on the Yuja link in the Canvas course. Targeting channels also allows instructors to do a live webcast of their lecture as well.

To target a channel while recording:

  1. Open the Yuja Software Capture program.
  2. Choose your options for the video capture on the left. If you want to do a Live broadcast, you must turn the Live setting from Off to On:
  3. Put a title in for the recording.
  4. Click the Share button to open the channel selector:
  5. You can see channels available to you in the Available Channels section, you can use the Filter box to search for specific channels:

Please Note: If your channel does not appear in this list, you will need to go to your Course page in Canvas and click on Yuja within it. This "registers" the course in Yuja. Restart Yuja and go through the directions again.

  6. Click the plus button next to the channel that you want to target (you can choose multiple if you would like). That moves the channel down into the Selected Channels box:
  7. Click on Save to target that channel. Click on Clear to start over. Click on Cancel to exit out without making any changes.
  8. Start and end your recording as you need to.
  9. After you click the Stop button, you will get the following prompt:
  10. Clicking Save will store it in your Media library. Clicking Post Now will post it into the channel for immediate viewing by enrolled students AND store it in your media library. Clicking Delete will remove the file from your Yuja media library and channel.

Organizing your Yuja Channel

You can create folders (called sub-channels) within your Yuja Channel.

Some notes about sub-channels:

  • You can view what the channel looks like for students by clicking the View Channel option (or by selecting the four boxes in the top right):
  • Sub-channel names must start with the name of the channel. This means it can be difficult for users to see the full names of the folder they are trying to find. To make this a little easier, switch to the View Channel option (see previous bullet point), and then select the monitor icon on the top right:
